What are we talking about?
CGM has genuinely changed diabetes management for a lot of people — current evidence shows real benefits for many who use it well. But knowing whether it's right for you, choosing between devices, and actually living with one day to day are three different things, and we're here to support you through all three.
"Smart devices" covers a few different tools, and you don't need to know all the terminology before reaching out — but here's a plain-language overview:
Insulin pumps are small devices that deliver insulin continuously through the day, rather than via separate injections — many people find this gives them more flexibility and finer control over their levels.
Smart insulin pens and bolus calculators help take some of the guesswork out of dosing, tracking your insulin and helping calculate doses based on factors like your food intake and blood glucose levels.
Which of these (if any) is right for you depends on your type of diabetes, your routine, and what you're hoping to get out of it — which is exactly what we'll help you work through.
Diabetes technology
Insulin pumps, smart devices, continuous glucose monitors
Diabetes technology has come a long way, and the right device can make day-to-day management noticeably easier — but working out what's right for you, getting started, and troubleshooting along the way isn't always straightforward. We support you through all of it, whether you're just starting to explore your options or you've been using a device for years.
It’s your choice, either way
Not everyone wants to use insulin pumps or other smart devices, and that's completely okay. Managing your diabetes without additional technology is a valid choice, not a step you're expected to take.
You're welcome to have a conversation with us about your options purely to be informed, with no expectation that you'll go on to use anything we discuss. Our role is to make sure you have clear, evidence-based information to make the decision that's genuinely right for you — not to steer you toward any particular outcome. To help support this, we offer free, 30-minute diabetes technology consultations. These conversations are provided by our clinicians (not companies), and are designed to give you a snapshot of what’s available and ask any questions that you may have, so you can feel informed about your options. You can book using the button below, or contact us directly.
